Call for Papers

We have a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the HiPerGRID 2018, Special Session on High Performance Grid Middleware, in conjunction with ICCP 2018, to be held September 6 – 8, 2018 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

HiPerGRID is an annual event dedicated to dissemination and evaluation of current advances in Grid, Cloud and Datacenters research. Following the success of last years HiPerGRID invited session held in conjunction with the International Conference on Intelligent Computer Communication and Processing (ICCP) organised in Cluj-Napoca, Romania by Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, aims at providing a venue and an open forum for researchers, designers, practitioners, developers, and industrial/governmental partners to present, discuss, and exchange related ideas, results, and experiences in the area of distributed systems. HiPerGRID supports community of researchers, developers, practitioners as well as current and potential Grid users who work in the field of grid technologies and their applications.

Middleware platforms refers to resource management, execution management, data management, security, monitoring and discovery, accounting, and other functions required by users to operate effectively a shared services environment. Obtaining high performance Middleware platforms through new, innovative solutions is a challenge of today research, due to the strong requirements imposed by the dynamic behavior of the user and resource communities. The event also aims at stimulating synergies between Grid/Cloud communities and related technology communities (P2P, Service Orientation, Workflow management).

We cordially invite you to submit your contribution to the Special Session on High Performance Grid Middleware (HiPerGRID 2018). The scope of the special session includes, but is not limited to:

  • Service Oriented Architecture
  • Cloud computing
  • Grid and Cluster computing
  • Edge computing
  • Fog computing
  • P2P computing
  • Pervasive computing
  • Scheduling and Meta-scheduling
  • Load balancing and load sharing
  • Resource Management
  • Grid Monitoring and Control
  • Distributed data storage and retrieval
  • Data transfer and management
  • Fault-tolerance and replication
  • QoS and SLA
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Performance evaluation and prediction
  • Workflow management
  • Security

HiPerGRID special session will be of interest to the ICCP community and it highlights the consideration of high performance middleware for distributed systems, which is explicitly focused on resource utilization and combines local and global enforcement solutions, supports the estimation of resources needed, scalability, mobility, reliability, and fault tolerance.

This edition of the HiPerGRID workshop is organized in the framework of the research complex project ROBIN (PN-III-P1-1.2-PCCDI-2017-0734).

Important Dates

The schedule of HiPerGRID Special Session is as follow:

  • Submission of papers: Extended to June 24, 2018
  • Notification of acceptance: July 20, 2018
  • Camera-ready papers due: July 31, 2018
  • Author registration due: July 31, 2018
  • ICCP 2018 Conference: September 6 – 8, 2018

Paper Submission

The full paper in PDF format will be submitted via EasyChair system. Papers are to be submitted electronically, following the guidelines available on the ICCP conference web page for submissions.

The program committee, potentially assisted by outside referees in limited cases, will do reviewing of full papers. We will assign in the first step two reviewers for a submission and, if we not have a clear decision we will designate an advocate.  The evaluation will be based on originality, scientific significance, technical soundness, and clarity of presentation. Accepted papers will be shepherded through an editorial review process by a member of the program committee.

Accepted submissions will be treated as confidential prior to publication in the conference proceedings. By submitting a paper, the authors agree that at least one of them will attend the workshop to present it.

The registration for HiPerGRID 2018 Special Session will follow ICCP registration rules:

Final camera-ready papers should  NOT exceed 8 pages for full papers (20 min. oral presentation) and 4 pages for short papers (15 min. oral presentation). The accepted papers should comply with IEEE formatting (A4 paper size  210x297mm / 8.27″x11.69″, two-column). To make the paper available through IEEE Xplore, it is mandatory that all authors submit a final PDF file that is compatible with IEEE Xplore.
